Burton was an surfer named Chris Fuller in Out of This World 1987. Then he was on Days of Our Lives 1988 as Harris Michaels. He was a student at Theater Theater, Hollywood, California in the 1990s and was taught by Jon Cedar. Burton first appeared as Jason Morgan in the daytime soap series General Hospital in 1992. He won the Daytime Emmy Award in 1998 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in the Drama Series. Burton was also a guest actor on General Hospital: Night Shift's debut season in 2007. In 2001, Burton appeared with Robert Redford & James Gandolfini in Taken the science-fiction miniseries. Also, Burton is the voice actor for Cloud Strife in the Kingdom Hearts series, as well as in the majority of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. Burton recorded Cloud in the video game Kingdom Hearts and its sequel, Kingdom Hearts II.
