East was named captain of the North Central High School football team in Indianapolis, Indiana. He played as a three-year starter on special teams and defense for the division 5A school in the Indianapolis area.When East was sophomore and junior, he began at the position of linebacker with 110 tackles when he was a junior. The All-Around Area linebacker was also named while starting as snapper.As the senior player, East contributed 64 tackles and seven quarterback sacks as the first-year player. He also won the Indiana Academic All-State honors award.
