Baldwin's debut feature film was Internal Affairs, in which Baldwin starred alongside Richard Gere and Andy Garcia. In the following years, he was a part of big-budget stars such as Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland in Flatliners. Baldwin played Chicago firefighter Brian McCaffrey in Backdraft with Kurt Russell and also with an ensemble cast of Donald Sutherland, Scott Glenn, Rebecca De Mornay, and Robert De Niro. His role in 1993's film Sliver alongside Sharon Stone earned him the MTV Movie Award for Most desirable Male.In 1995, in addition to the various characters he's played in his career, Baldwin was on Joel Schumacher's shortlist for Batman Forever to play the lead character. Schumacher's varied choices included Daniel Day-Lewis, Ralph Fiennes, Val Kilmer and Baldwin. The role was given to Val Kilmer. Baldwin starred alongside Cindy Crawford in Fair Game. In 1996, he appeared in a low-budget feature by Miramax Films titled Curdled and received $150,000 for his performance, as compared to the $1.7 million he was paid for his performance in Sliver and his role in the film was slightly acclaimed by critics. Baldwin was Constance Bulworth's lover in Warren Beatty's 1998 film Bulworth. Baldwin joined forces with Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Sutherland and Donald Sutherland to create the science fiction thriller Virus. He also appeared alongside Peter Gallagher for Brotherhood of Murder which was an Showtime original movie.
