Tulsi Gabbard

 Tulsi Gabbard was born April 12, 1981. She is an American politician and United States Army Reserve officer. Gabbard was both the first Hindu member of Congress, and the first Samoan American elected to Congress. Gabbard at the age of at the age of 21 was a presidential candidate for the 2020 United States presidential election for the Democratic nomination. She became an independent in the fall of 2022, and was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 2002. Gabbard was a member of the field medical section of the Hawaii Army National Guard while stationed in Iraq from 2004 to 2005 and was stationed in Kuwait from 2008 until 2009 as an Army Military Police platoon leader.While a member of Congress she was a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) from 2013 until 2016 and then resigned to support Bernie Sanders' campaign for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.
