Julian Newman

 After starting at public schools, Newman moved to Downey Christian School in the fall of 2012, where he was able to teach history and basketball. Newman started playing basketball in fifth grade for the middle school team. After scoring up to 90 points per game during the first season He was then promoted to the varsity basketball team. His team did not fall under the supervision of the Florida High School Athletic Association. Newman, an 11-year-old point-guard, was 4 feet 5 inches (1.35m) tall and weighed 70 pounds. In spite of wearing the tiniest of uniforms that he could find, he was required to tighten the shoulders of his shirt with a hair tie . He also had to roll the waistband of his shorts to stop them from falling off. Through his first three starts, he averaged 12.4 points, 11 assists, as well as 4.3 steals per game. He helped lead Downey Christian to a 21-6 record while being the top player in the state of Florida in assists
