Ja Morant

Temetrius Jamel"Ja" Morrison was born on August 10, 1999, is an American professional basketball athlete for the Memphis Grizzlies (NBA). He was nicknamed "G12" and played in college basketball with the Murray State Racers. As an sophomore in the year 2019, he was consensus All-American for the second team. Even though he was named the All-Region's Most Valuable Player three consecutive times and earning All-State recognition at Crestwood High School, Sumter, South Carolina, Morant was not particularly sought-after by NCAA Division I programs. He made an immediate impact during his time at Murray State University as a freshman, securing first-team OVC conference awards. He had a breakout sophomore year that led to him winning OVC Player of the Year as well as leading in the NCAA in assists. As a sophomore, Morant also became the first player in NCAA History to average 20+ points and 10+ assists per game. He was the second overall pick by the Grizzlies in the 2019 NBA Draft, and was named the NBA Rookie Of The Year in 2020. Morant was invited to his first NBA All Star Game in 2022 as a starter, and was awarded the NBA Most Improved Player Award following the end of the season, Morant was also picked to his first All-NBA Team in 2022.
