Terry Gene Bollea, /b@’leIat/, born on August 11, 1952), is an American retired professional wrestler. Hogan is widely believed as the most famous and adored wrestler in the 1980s. Hogan began his professional wrestling career in the year 1977. He was signed to the World Wrestling Federation in 1983. Hogan's reputation as an all-American legend helped kick off the professional wrestling boom of the 1980s. Hogan was the main event at eight of the nine of Wrestlemania's initial nine editions. He was the winner of the WWF Championship five more times during his first tenure and his first win was the longest championship win in history. He was the only wrestler ever to be the winner of consecutive Royal Rumble matches. He was crowned champion in 1991 and 1990. His match with Andre the Giant, on WWF The Main Event, February 5, 1988, still holds American record-setting television viewing with an 15.2 Nielsen Rating and 33 million viewers.
