 Cry Macho, a 2021 American Neowestern drama film, directed by Clint Eastwood and produced by Nick Schenk. It was written by Nick Schenk (based on Nash’s 1975 novel). Eastwood is Eduardo Minett, a rodeo star who is hired to reunite him with his father (Dwight Yoakam), in Mexico. There have been many attempts to adapt Nash's novel into a film over the years. In the year 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger was brought to the role of a star, however the film was canceled due to an incident. In 2020, Eastwood's adaptation was announced. He produced the film along with Albert S. Ruddy, Tim Moore, and Jessica Meier.Cry Macho was shot in the state of New Mexico; Ben Davis was the cinematographer, Mark Mancina was the composer and Joel and David Cox were the editors. Cry Macho was theatrically released in the United States on September 17, 2021, by Warner Bros. Pictures with simultaneous release through the HBO Max streaming service for 31 days. The film was unsuccessful commercially, having earned $16 million against an estimated budget of $33 million.
