Bernie Mac

Bernie Mac was influenced by The Three Stooges, and Redd Foxx and Richard Pryor comedians who stood up. Mac began his career as a stand-up comedian in the Chicago's Cotton Club. The popularity of his stand-up comedy increased after he was awarded the Miller Lite Comedy Search at 32. Mac's appearance on HBO's Def Comedy Jam was his first major break. Martin Lawrence couldn't calm the crowd, and Mac appeared on stage and famously said, "I ain’t scared othe mothafuckas" and telling the crowd that he did "not been here to do any stupidity." Mac performed as a opening act for Dionne Warwick and Redd Foxx and Natalie Cole. In 1994, he was the character as Uncle Vester in House Party 3. A talk show on HBO named Midnight Mac was also produced by Mac. Mac was also an actor in a few parts. He was the character Mr. Johnson, the owner of a grill and restaurant in the film B.A.P.S. and got his breakthrough in Ice Cube's 1995 film Friday , in which he played Pastor Clever. Mac was later chosen to play the title character in the 1995 film Apollo Revival. He also was the character "Dollar Bill" who was a funny smart-talking owner of a club in The Players Club. Mac left behind "black comedy" by appearing in the remake of Ocean's Eleven from 2001 and also as the brand newly created Bosley in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Mac played the character of "Gin Slagel" in Bad Santa in 2003. Guess Who? also starred. He was also in Guess Who? (a comedy remake of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner) and Head of State and also made an appearance in a comedy sketch in the role of "Bobby Bolivia" as a salesman for cars in Transformers 2007.
