The Mandalorian The Mandalorian, the American space Western TV series created for Disney+ by Jon Favreau The Mandalorian is a live streaming television service. It is the first live action series in the Star Wars franchise, beginning five years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983), and stars Pedro Pascal as the title character, a lone bounty hunter who is in search of the force-sensitive child Grogu.Star Wars creator George Lucas had begun developing live-action Star Wars television series by 2009, but this project was rejected because it was too costly to make. Then, in October of 2012 he sold Lucasfilm to Disney. Then, work on a new Star Wars series began for Disney+. Favreau was hired in March 2018and serves as writer and showrunner. He executive produces alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. The title of the series was announced in October of 2018. The filming started in Manhattan Beach Studios, California. Visual effects firm Industrial Light & Magic developed the StageCraft technology used in the series that uses virtual sets as well as an immersive 360-degree video wall in order to create the series' scenes. The technology has since been adopted by other TV and film productions.
