Rob Dyrdek

 At 11 years of age, Dyrdek earned a sponsorship to represent Surf Ohio, a local skate shop in Dayton, Ohio. He began competing at age 12. Gordon and Smith Skateboard Company (G&S) is a major national brand, began sponsoring him around that time. In July 1989 , aged 15, Dyrdek placed first at the National Skateboard Association North Central District competition. He relocated to Southern California at the age 16 to pursue his professional career in skating. The official turn-in date was pro in 1991, competing in the Skateboard World Cup in Germany and finishing in fifth place. 2. Dyrdek also founded his own skateboard accessory business, Orion Trucks, at age 17.By 1995, Dyrdek was competing at exhibitions and events throughout North America, Europe, Asia as well as Australia. Dyrdek was sponsored by Droors Clothing (later known as DC Shoes). In 1995, Dyrdek launched his first signature shoe (the RD 1) with DC, beginning the 20-year relationship that featured 29 signature footwear. Dyrdek Enterprises was founded in 1999 by Dyrdek. Dyrdek finished sixth in park skating in 2000 at the X Games in San Francisco. In 1996, he founded Silver Trucks in 2003 as a skateboarding accessories business. He conceptualized, designed and constructed, as well as collected funds for the Rob Dyrdek/DC Shoes Skate Plaza in Kettering, his hometown. The park was a celebration of street skateboarding, and featured urban artifacts like railings, plants, stairs, and ledges. It was the very first project to receive funding from DC Shoes and Rob Dyrdek.
