 Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas (born October 13, 1980) is an American artist, singer, record producer, model & actress. In her teens, she was discovered and signed to Murder Inc. Records. In 2002, she was featured in Fat Joe's "What's Luv?" Ja Rule's "Always on Time" and her track, both of which became huge hits in 2002. The singer is often referred to as the Princess of Hip-Hop. She became the first female artist to be in the top two positions on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart simultaneously with "Foolish" and "What's Luv?" at number one and two, respectively.In 2002, Ashanti released her eponymous debut album, which sold over 505,000 copies across the U.S. in its first week of release. The album garnered her many accolades, including eight Billboard Music Awards, two American Music Awards, and an Grammy Award in 2003 for the best Contemporary R&B Album. Since that time, the album has gone triple platinum in the United States. It has sold over six million copies across the world in 2003. [5] "Foolish" is the main single from the album, was a critical as well as commercial success. It was ranked number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Ashanti became only the second artist to simultaneously have three Billboard Hot 100 chart entries with "Foolish". Ashanti was the composer and vocalist for Jennifer Lopez's song "Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix)", which reached the top spot on the Hot 100 of Billboard.
