Venus Ebony Starr Williams was born on 17 June 1980, and is an American professional tennis player. The former world No. Williams was an ex-world No. The Williams family, including her parents Oracene and Richard Williams coached her. Williams is considered to be among the best tennis players. The year 1994 saw her turned professional and made it to her first major final in the 1997 US Open. Williams took home the US Open and Wimbledon titles in 2000 and 2001. She also took home the Olympic singles gold medal at the Sydney Olympics 2000. Williams was ranked the world's top spot for the first time on 25 February 2002. The singles world No. 1 ranking on February 25, 2002. This was her first major achievement during the Open period and was followed by Althea Gibson. 8 She fell to Serena in all of the four major finals she played between 2002 and 2003. She started to slowly return to her best in 2014, culminating in two big finals appearances at Wimbledon as well as the Australian Open in 2017.
