Williams was Potsie Weber in a segment of the comedy-anthology television show Love, American Style in 1972. The episode was called "Love and the Happy Days", and Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard) as well as Richie's mother Marion Ross (Marion Ross) were also on the show. The only characters that were featured were Williams, Howard, Ross and Marion Ross reprised their roles. The initial season of the brand new series that, where Williams was given second billing following Howard's, was heavily dominated by Richie, Potsie, and other characters. When Arthur Fonzie Fonzarelli, Richie's mother, father and sister gained more fame, Potsie was joined in the second season by Ralph Malph (Don Most). However, Williams did not appear frequently in the subsequent seasons. Richie, Potsie and Ralph are a group that performs at Arnold's Drive-In among other locations. Williams sang the leading vocals in the show as Potsie. Williams's former wife Lorrie Mahaffey was the singer who sang the lead vocals for the group.
