Hanks was a star when he made his debut with leading roles in a number of comedy films which received favorable media coverage, such as Splash (1984), The Money Pit (1986), Big (1988) and A League of Their Own (1992). He was awarded two consecutive Academy Awards for Best Actor for starring as an AIDS-stricken gay lawyer in AIDS in Philadelphia (1993) and the title role in Forrest Gump (1994). Hanks worked alongside Steven Spielberg on five films, including Saving Private Ryan (1998) and Catch Me If You Can (2002). He also played a role in ForrestGump (1994). Hanks also appeared as the lead character in the Robert Langdon film series, and voiced Sheriff Woody in the Toy Story film series (1995-present).
