Suicide of Ronnie McNutt

 On August 31, 2020 McNutt began a livestream on the social media website Facebook. His friend from high school, Joshua Steen, encountered the stream. He was initially not sure if the stream unusual, considering that McNutt was a regular participant in livestreams in the past, but he became alarmed when he realized McNutt was drunk and was holding a pump action shotgun.Steen has allegedly tried to intervene several times, especially when McNutt misfired the shotgun in the hope that Facebook would block the stream and end the live stream, thus preventing anyone from seeing inside McNutt's home as Steen was attempting to get police assistance. Facebook was unable to block the stream, saying that it was not in violation of their platform's guidelines. According to Heavy, Facebook also initially was unable to stop the dissemination of video footage of McNutt's suicide and mishap however, it later agreed to take the videos from the platform.As the stream went on, McNutt's mobile phone was constantly ringing. The last call that he received was from his former girlfriend, which he answered and then had an argument that lasted for a few minutes between them. McNutt did not answer the phone until he had hung up on her. Then he yelled "Hey guys! Before he proceeded to kill himself with his chin, McNutt's dog's owner walked into the room. According to reports the shot was able to blow the face of McNutt completely off and left just the tongue exposed. There were multiple parties present to capture the flow. However McNutt's New Albany Police Department did not get into McNutt's residence until after his death. Police Chief Chris Robertson, the chief of police has secured the perimeter and evacuated nearby residents. He attempted to contact McNutt via speakerphone.
