Bullock made her acting debut in 1987 in a tiny role in Hangmen (1987). She became famous for her supporting role as Demolition Man (1993). After her breakthrough in Speed (1994), Bullock was quickly recognized for her lead roles in the romantic comedy While You Were Sleeping (1995) as well as the dramatic Hope Floats (1998) and A Time to Kill (1996). In the years following Bullock was a major character in comedies Miss Congeniality (2000, Two Weeks Notice (2002, The Proposal (2008), The Heat (2013) and Ocean's 8 (2018). Also, she had success in the dramas Crash (2004) as well as The Unforgivable (2021), and thrillers Premonition (2007), Bird Box (2018). In recognition of her performance as Leigh Anne Tuohy in the biographical drama The Blind Side (2009), Bullock won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Bullock was nominated for the same award for her role as an astronaut trapped in space in the science fiction thriller Gravity (2013) and is her highest-grossing live-action film.
