Maya Lin

 Maya Lin was born at Athens in Ohio. Her parents moved from China in 1948 to the United States. Lin's mother came to Ohio in the year 1949. Henry Huan Lin, her father, was born in Fuzhou (Fuzhou), Fujian. He was a ceramicist and was the dean of Ohio University College of Fine Arts. Julia Chang Lin, a poet who was a an ex-professor of literature at Ohio University, is her mother. Lin Huiyin was Lin's "half-niece" who was an American-educated artist and poet. Lin Huiyin is thought to be the first female architect in the modern age of China. Lin Juemin, Lin Yin Ming and Lin Yin Ming were both her grandparents' cousins. Lin Chang-min was a Hanlin from the Qing Dynasty, and was the teacher of the Emperor. Lin Huiyin was born to Lin's mother Maya Lin, with Henry Huan Lin as Lin Chang-Min's unproportionate son with his concubine. Lin says she did not realize that she was Chinese until later in her the course of her life. The father of Maya Lin's mother Henry Huan Lin was Lin Chang-Min's unlegitimate son along and his wife. Lin Lin says that she was at her home for a long time and loved studying. She attended classes at Ohio University while still in high school, and learned to cast bronze at the school's foundry. After graduation from Athens High School, The Plains, Ohio in 1977 She then went to Yale University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in 1981, and a Master's degree in Architecture in 1986.
