The first time Luke competed at World's Strongest Man came in 2016 after a great performance at Europe's Strongest Man the previous year. While Luke did not reach the finals, he was able gain invaluable experience and began to gain attention internationally. He improved his BSM rank (4th), and at WSM in 2017, he placed third in his heat ahead of potential WSM champions Hafthor Bjornsson, and Martins Licis. He was disappointed to finish 6th at BSM in 2018 when he was beaten by Robert Oberst and Zydrunas Svickas, who are both four-time WSM winners. Luke's job was to work offshore for at least three weeks without having access to training equipment. He also lost out to Robert Oberst, who is a four-time WSM winner, and finished in a disappointing 6th place at BSM. This resulted in a major achievement as he qualified for the WSM finals in his first year as a professional finishing 7thoverall alongside Tom, the younger brother. Tom who finished 5th. The two were the first brother and sister to qualify for the WSM final, earning them the nickname "The World's Strongest Brothers'.
