Lina Medina

Medina delivered her baby via caesarean section to a boy just six weeks after being diagnosed. She was 5 yearsold, seven months and 21 days old. She was the youngest person in the history of the world to have a baby. The caesarean birth was required by her small pelvis. The procedure was done by Lozada and Dr Busalleu and Dr. Colareta as the anaesthetist. The doctors found she had mature sexual organs due to precocious puberty. Dr. Edmundo Escomel reported her situation in the journal of medicine La Presse Medicale, including the fact that her menarche occurred at the age of eight months and was in stark contrast to previous reports that she had had regular menstrual periods from the age of three or two and two and a half.Medina's son weighed 2.7 kg (6.0 lbs; 0.43 st) at birth and was named Gerardo after her doctor. He believed Medina to be his sister until finding out at age 10 that she was his mother. After initially staying in the same family, Lozada was permitted to take custody of the son's home at the Lozada's in Lima. In the following years, he hired Lina at his clinic in Lima (where she also resided), though Lina was only able to see her son occasionally. Her son was well, but he died in 1979, aged 40 from bone marrow disease
