Kyrie Andrew Irving (/'kaIri/; Lakota: Hela, lit. American professional basketball player "Little Mountain" (born on March 23rd in 1992), is the head of the Brooklyn Nets of National Basketball Association (NBA). After being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the first overall selection during their NBA draft in 2011 and was named the Rookie of the Year. He was a seven-time All-Star and three-time member of the All-NBA Team and won a 2016 NBA championship with the Cavaliers. Irving was honored with the Most Valuable Player award (MVP) in 2014's All-Star Game. Irving scored the winning field goal of the 2016 NBA Finals to complete the Cavaliers their historic win against the Golden State Warriors. Irving was transferred to the Boston Celtics after he made another Finals appearance in 2017. After playing as an Celtic for two years Irving signed as a free agent for the Brooklyn Nets in 2019. He also was a member of the United States National Team, winning gold at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup as in the 2016 Summer Olympics. He was elected vice-president of the National Basketball Players Association in February of 2020. He replaces Pau.
