Joseph Morgan's first audition for acting was in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for Tom Riddle. Morgan was a part of the initial series of the Sky One television series Hex as Troy and also appeared in secondary roles in films like Alexander and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World as well as The BBC Two television series The Line of Beauty. He also appeared on the television series Doc Martin, Casualty, and co-starred alongside Billie Piper in Mansfield Park. In 2010, he portrayed the title role in the mini-series "Ben Hur" which first aired on CBC television in Canada and ABC TV in America, on April 4th, 2010. Morgan was Niklaus Mikaelson in the CW's The Vampire Diaries, and as Lysander in the film Immortals which starred Henry Cavill. BuddyTV placed Morgan at number 84 in its "TV's Sexiest Man of 2011" list. In January 2013, a back-door pilot for The Originals, a spin-off series of The Vampire Diaries, began airing with Morgan playing Niklaus Mikaelson. In the year 2020, Joseph Morgan starred in Peacock's science fiction drama Brave New World as CJack60/Elliot.
