Jeremy Lin

 Jeremy Shu-How Lin (born August 23, 1988) is a professional Taiwanese-American basketball player who played for the Guangzhou Loong Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He unexpectedly led a winning turnaround with the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) during the 2011-12 season, creating a phenomenon in the culture known as "Linsanity". Lin was the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to compete in the NBA and is one of the very few Asian Americans to have played in the league. Lin is the first Asian American to win a NBA championship. He won it in the year 2019 for the Toronto Raptors. Lin was born in the San Francisco Bay Area, and was awarded the Northern California Basketball Player Of the Year when he was a high school senior. After not receiving any athletic scholarships He enrolled in Harvard University, where he was an all-conference three times within the Ivy League. Lin joined the Golden State Warriors, his hometown team , in 2010 after he was not drafted from college. Lin was not a part of his rookie season, and was assigned to the NBA Development League. In 2011, Lin was waived by both the Warriors and the Houston Rockets before joining the New York Knicks early in 2011-12.At beginning, Lin played sparingly for the Knicks and spent time in the D-League. In February 2012, however, he was promoted to the starting lineup and led the team on an eight-game winning streak. Lin's outstanding play throughout the season led to the Knicks to make the playoffs in 2012; it also catapulted his name to international acclaim. Lin appeared on the covers of Sports Illustrated and Time and was included in the Time 100 as one of the most influential individuals around the globe. In the month of July, Lin won the ESPY Award for Breakthrough Athlete of the Year.
