Jeremy Lin

Jeremy Shu-How Lin (born August 23, 1988) is a Taiwanese-American[1][2] professional basketball player who last played for the Guangzhou Loong Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He was a surprise to lead an impressive turnaround for the New York Knicks (NBA) in the the 2011-12 season. The result was a social phenomenon that is known as "Linsanity". Lin is the only Asian American to have ever played in the NBA. He was the first American to have Chinese or Taiwanese ethnicity. Lin is the first Asian American to win an NBA championship, having done this in the Toronto Raptors in 2019.Lin grew as a child in the San Francisco Bay Area and earned Northern California Basketball Player of the Year honors as an HS senior. He was denied athletic scholarships, and was enrolled at Harvard University. There, Lin was an all-conference, three-time Ivy League player. Undrafted out of college, Lin signed with his hometown Golden State Warriors in 2010. Lin didn't play in the first season of his rookie year, and was then assigned to the NBA Development League. Lin was released by the Warriors and Houston Rockets in 2011. He was then signed by the New York Knicks in 2011-12. Lin also spent some time in the D-League. In February 2012 however, he was promoted to the starting line-up and led the team on an eight-game winning streak. Lin's impressive play helped the Knicks get to the 2012 playoffs. He also earned him international recognition. Lin appeared on the covers of Sports Illustrated and Time and was named to the Time 100 as one of the most influential people in the world. Lin was awarded the ESPY Award as Breakthrough Athlete Of The Year in July 2012.
