Wolfhard and Josh Ovalle co-directed their first music video in July 2017 for Spendtime Palace's song, "Sonora". 10 years ago, Wolfhard made his film debut as Richie Tozier in the 2017 film adaptation of Stephen King's It. It and Stranger Things were both set in the 1980s. Wolfhard's role in them was a coincident. Wolfhard claims that his role was initially cast as Richie by Cary Fukunaga, who was also co-directing as well as writer. However, Fukunaga left the project due to creative differences. This permitted Wolfhard to pursue Stranger Things. Wolfhard was required to re-audition to play Richie following the announcement that Andy Muschietti was attached to It. Wolfhard left APA in October of 2017 and fired Tyler Grasham, his former agent. The reason for this was that Tyler Grasham was accused of sexually assaulting young actors. Wolfhard was never assaulted. Wolfhard was not assaulted by anyone.
