Connery was in a variety of roles in theatre, and later played roles in a number of B-films. His film debut was in The Lords of Discipline (1983). In 1985, he starred in Doctor Who's serial Vengeance on Varos. In 1986, he was Robin Hood in the final series of Robin of Sherwood. He was later cast as James Bond creator Ian Fleming in the television show Spymaker. He was the Merlin: The Quest Begins' title character in a fantasy movie in 1997. It was originally intended to be a pilot episode for the larger series. The actor was also featured in Faithful Dealing (2001), a London-based English Restoration Whodunit created by Dominic Madden. The show toured in 2003 as The Blue Room, a stage production. He was the main character of Shoebox Zoo's children's show. In 2004, he was back on the show in September.
