David Eric Grohl (born January 14th, 1969) is a popular American musician from the United States. He is the founder of the rock band Foo Fighters, in which Grohl is the lead guitarist, singer, and the primary songwriter. Before forming Foo Fighters, he was the drummer of the grunge group Nirvana, from 1990 to 1994. He also joined the punk rock group Scream at 17 after Kent Stax left. Grohl was named the drummer for Nirvana following Scream was disbanded in the year 1990. Nevermind (1991) Nirvana's sophomore album, was the first album featuring Grohl as a drummer. It was a huge success. After the passing of Kurt Cobain, Nirvana's lead singer, Grohl started Foo Fighters as a solo project. The Foo Fighters' first album was released in 1995. A whole band was created to perform and record under the Foo Fighters brand. Since then, they have released 10 studio albums. Grohl is the drummer for Them Crooked Vultures and has also recorded and performed together with Queens of the Stone Age. He also performed in the two side projects Late! He also participated in the side projects Late! Grohl began with the direction of Foo Fighters music videos in 1997. He then released his first documentary, Sound City, in 2013. The documentary miniseries Sonic Highways (2013) and What Drives Us (2021) followed. Grohl published an autobiography , titled The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music. Grohl as well as Foo Fighters appeared in Studio 666 as their own in 2022. Classic Rock Drummers coauthor Ken Micallef described him as one of rock's most influential musicians in the last 20 years. [5] Grohl was a part of Foo fighters, as well as Nirvana, was inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
