Charles Robert Watts was born on June 2, 1941, and passed away on August 24, 2021. He was an English musician. Watts also began playing drums in London's rhythm and blues clubs. It was there that Watts met his groupmates Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Then, in January of 1963, Watts resigned from Blues Incorporated to join the Rolling Stones. He also was their stage design and drummer. Watts made his first appearance on stage as an official member in February of 1963. He remained in the band for another 58 years. Jagger nicknamed Watts "The Wembley Whammer" due to his passion for jazz. Watts, Jagger, and Richards were the only members of the group who played on all their albums. Watts' career wasn't restricted to the Rolling Stones. He also performed with his own band called the Charlie Watts Quintet. In London, Watts appeared with the Charlie Watts Tentet at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club. Watts was admitted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. He was also inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004 along with the Rolling Stones. He is widely regarded as to be one of the best drummers of all time.
