Charley Jordan (July 11, 1890 until November 15th in 1954) was an American St. Louis blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter and a talent scout from Mabelvale, Arkansas, United States. He was famous for his unique style that drew on his roots in the countryside. Charley Jordan was honored by the Killer Blues Headstone Project. He recorded a number of singles with Vocalion between 1930 and 1937, and also played with bluesmen from 1920 until the 1940s. Jordan played with Peetie Wheatstraw, Roosevelt Sykes, Casey Bill Weldon and Memphis Minnie. He was renowned for his "crisply solid guitar", he had most of his biggest hits which included "Keep it Clean", in the 1930s. Later in that decade and through the 1940s, he performed frequently with Big Joe Williams. In 1928, Jordan was shot in the spine. This was due to his extramusical career as a bootlegger. This gave him a long term disability and caused him to walk with crutches thereafter (which is evident in the few photographs of Jordan available).Jordan died of violent or pneumonia in the year 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri.
