John Leonard Orr, born on April 26, 1949 was an American ex-firefighter, novelist, conviction for arsonist and mass murderer. Orr was an officer in the fire department and as an arson investigator for the Glendale Fire Department, California. Orr was found guilty of arson in multiple instances as well as four charges of murder. Los Angeles was plagued with fires during the 1990s and 1980s. The fires caused millions of dollars of destruction and killed numerous people. Orr was the primary reason behind the majority of the fires. Orr was known as "The Pillow Pyro" due to the location of arson fires that occurred in shops. The method he used was to ignite fires inside shops that were open. It was comprised of a lighted cigarette and three matches that were wrapped in yellow ruled paper and secured by the help of a rubber band. To attract firefighters to his fires, he set small flames on the hills to draw the firemen.
