Neistat has criticized Neistat criticized New York City Police Department's ticketing New York City cyclists for riding in areas that are not designated by bike lanes. Neistat is spotted by an officer in a film that is titled "Bike Lanes" and is issued an amount of $50 in fines. Neistat is then able to ride his bicycle along the lane, and crashes into numerous obstacles. This is a strong argument that lanes aren't the safest and could even be risky. New York Magazine called Neistat "Bike-Lane Vigilante" and the movie was extensively covered by the major media outlets. Time also included "Bike Lanes 8" as one of their top 10 creative Videos of 2011. In 2022, Neistat uploaded a YouTube video titled "NYC BIKE LANE BOUNTY" that discusses a plan that New York City residents could declare illegally parked vehicles in bike lanes for a portion of the fine's per-perspectual. Nesitat, in the video's introduction, smashes his bicycle into a illegally parked van , and then provides statistics on NYC bike accidents.
