Jolie made her debut on screen when she was a kid, alongside her father, Jon Voight, in Lookin at the Sky (1982) and her film career started in full-time mode a decade later, with the low-budget production Cyborg 2 (1993), followed by her first leading part in a major movie, Hackers (1995). She starred in the critically acclaimed biographical cable film George Wallace (1997) and Gia (1998) and was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1999 drama Girl, Interrupted. She was a star in Lara Croft, Tomb Raider (2001), where she played the title role of the video game hero. Her action-film career continued with Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) and Wanted (2008). Salt (2010) and The Tourist (2010). Her work received critical acclaim as well as nominations for her roles in the dramas A Mighty Heart (2007), Changeling (2008) and Salt (2010). Her biggest commercial successes include the fantasy movie Maleficent (2014) and its sequel in 2019, and the action film Eternals (2021). She has performed a voice part in the animated film series Kung Fu Panda since 2008. Jolie also wrote and directed the war dramas In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011) and Unbroken (2014).
