Jamil was born on the 25th of February, 1986 in Hampstead, London, to an Indian father, Ali Jamiland a Pakistani British mother Shireen Jamil. She stated in 2015 that her health concerns as a child were numerous. Her birth was marked by hearing loss and labyrinthitis which she had had many operations to fix. For her left ear, her hearing was 70% and her right ear was 50%. The diagnosis was made at age 9 with hypermobile Ehlers Danlos syndrome. This is a genetic disorder that affects connective tissue, and she was diagnosed later with coeliac disease. 10 years old, at the age of nine, she was diagnosed with hypermobile syndrome which is a genetic disorder that affects the connective tissue in the body. She was diagnosed with coeliac disease at the age of 12. Her eating disorder is the result of social pressure. 15 years ago, at 17 years old, she was struck by a vehicle while running from a bee, breaking several bones and causing damage to her spine. She recalls being told that she could never walk again. But, she gradually recovered following the steroid and physiotherapy treatments. She attributes her recovery from anorexia due to the accident in her car, which changed the way she viewed her body. 15] She was unable to finish her studies at Queen's College School, London.
