  In 2007 aged 14 and without any acting experience, Scodelario was enlisted in the first series of Skins as Effy Stonem. When she was auditioning, Scodelario became depressed because she thought she was too young, however, a producer encouraged that she should stay, and she was asked to read the script for the part. Scodelario received only some speaking lines in the first season, but her character developed significantly over the course of. She eventually became the central character in the 2009 and 2010 series following the casting had been replaced with a new generation of characters. This led to Effy one of the very few characters to appear in series 1 until series 4. The filming started in July, and Scodelario announced that the 18th November 2009 would be her last day of filming the series and that she would miss her appearance on the show.Scodelario left after the fourth season, making way for the characters of the third generation. Her performance was praised by critics and she was nominated two times for Best Actress at the TV Quick Awards, in 2009 and 2010. [14] Scodelario was Effy in the episode "Fire" The episode was one of the three episodes of the final season of the seventh season of Skins. It's a two-part story of her life as an adult, lasting two hours. She says that "Fire" is more of an actual film, and she could relate to Effy's struggles to grow into an adult. She played the role of Tasha who is a teenager in Shank her second film. The film was released on March 26, 2010. Also, she appeared as Peshet in the remake of Clash of the Titans. In April of 2010, Scodelario confirmed that she was cast as Cathy in the film adaptation.
