Elizabeth Berkley

Berkley was able to take on the character of Nomi malone in the controversial Paul Verhoeven film Showgirls (1995) following her departure from Saved by the Bell. [12][13] The sex and sexuality-filled film received an NC-17 rating within the United States (the first big-budget film to be awarded the rating) and was a box-office disaster throughout its theatrical run,[14][15][16] and was extensively criticized by critics. The performance of Berkley was not well-reviewed. Variety's Todd McCarthy described it as "harsh and graceless"[17as did Janet Maslin, of The New York Times, said that Berkley looked like a balloon-like party doll sporting "the empty-eyed, open-mouthed appearance of a balloon doll". [18The actress Berkley was dismissed from Creative Artists Agency in the following the film's failure. She spent the week meeting with William Morris Agency, United Talent Agency, and ICM. The latter signed her. In January 1996, she got an acting role as a support in The First Wives Club, the comedy with Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler. Then, she played the role of a Madonna body-double dubbed Tina in an independent movie The Real Blonde. Berkley was played as the title character in the animated film Armitage III: Poly Matrix that also starred Kiefer Sutherland. She was also cast in parts in independent films, such as The Taxman, Tail Lights Fade and the critically acclaimed Roger Dodger (winner of the first Tribeca Film Festival), and Moving Malcolm. 20. She also was the callgirl for Al Pacino in Oliver Stone's sports drama Any Given Sunday. [21] She appeared performing on stage as Honey in the 1999 London stage version Lenny.
