Christians (/'krIstS@n/, -ti@n/, (listen)) are people who believe in Christianity which is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion built on Jesus Christ's life and teachings. The words Christ and Christian derive from the Koine Greek title Christos (Khristos), a translation of the Biblical Hebrew term mashiach (maSHiyHa) (usually rendered as messiah English). There various different interpretations of Christianity that sometimes clash, all agree on the unique significance of Jesus. "10" The term Christian refers to everything that is connected to Christianity and Christian churches. It does not have the meaning of "of Christ" or "related or related to Christ". Based on an Pew Research Center survey from 2011, there were approximately 2.2 billion Christians across the globe in 2010. This is an increase from the 600 million in 1910. The current figure is 37% of Christians live in America, 24% in Europe, 24% in sub-Saharan Africa and 13% in Asia and Pacific. 1percent of Christians live in the Middle East or North Africa. 4. Christians are the largest percentage of the people in 158 nations and territories. [4] 280 million Christians reside as minorities. Nearly half of Christians around the world are Catholic and over one third are Protestant (37 percent). 4/12% of all Christians around the world are Orthodox. The other Christian groups comprise the remainder. By 2050, the Christian population is projected to exceed 3 billion. [4] A 2012 Pew Research Center survey found that Christianity will remain the most popular religion in the world by 2050 if the current trends continue to be maintained. Christians have experienced many shifts in the last few years.
