Virginia Gayle Madsen (born September 11th, 1961)[1] is an American actress and film producer. Her debut film was Class (1983) that was shot in Chicago. David Lynch, the director of the science-fiction film Dune (1984) was the director who cast her as Princess Irulan after she moved to Los Angeles. Madsen then starred in a number of highly-rated films for teens, including Electric Dreams (1984), Modern Girls (1986), and Fire with Fire (1986).Madsen received further recognition for her starring part in the role of Helen Lyle in the horror film Candyman (1992). Madsen won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Alexander Payne's comedy-drama Sideways (2004).
