Melanie Lynskey

 Melanie Jayne Lynskey (born 16 May 1977) is a New Zealand actress. She is well-known for her portrayals of complex women and her proficiency in American dialects. She primarily works in films that are independent. Lynskey has been the recipient of two Critics' Choice Awards and a Gracie Award and a New Zealand Film Award. She also received a Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award. Lynskey's debut in a film was as the teenage murderer in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After her move to the United States, Lynskey built a career as a supporting role in a number of films, both big and small budget such as Ever After (1998) and Detroit Rock City, But You're a Cheerleader (both 1999), Abandon, Sweet Home Alabama, (both 2002) Shattered Glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006). She was also in the films Away We Go, Up In the Air, The Informant!
