Robert Rihmeek Williams (born May 6, 1987),[2] known professionally as Meek Mill, is an American rapper. He was born in Philadelphia and was raised there. He began his musical career as a battle rapper, and then formed the short-lived rap band, The Bloodhoundz. In February of 2011, following his departure from having left Grand Hustle Records, Mill signed with rapper Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group (MMG). Mill's debut album, Dreams and Nightmares, was released in 2012 under MMG and Warner Bros. Records. It was preceded by "Amen" featuring Drake, which peaked at second place on the U.S. charts. Billboard 200.In October 2012, Mill announced the launch of his own label imprint, Dream Chasers Records, named after his mixtape series. Meek Mill is often a collaborator with MMG label-mates. The first two songs, "Tupac Back" and "Ima Boss", were included on Volume 1. In the year 2015, he debuted Dreams Worth More Than money the album that he released his second. He also released Wins & Losses in 2016. His fourth studio album, Championships, was released in November 2018 and debuted on the Billboard 200 chart. The lead single, "Going Bad", featuring Drake, peaked at the 6th spot on the Billboard Hot 100. This was Mill's highest-charting single. Meek's fifth album Expensive Pain was released in October 2021. In November of 2017, he was sentenced for violating parole and sent into prison for two to four years. Then, he was released to pursue his case after completing five months. In August of this year the documentary about his battle with the justice system for criminals, called Free Meek, was released through Amazon Prime Video. Mill was the executive producer on the series along with fellow rapper Jay-Z. Mill and Jay-Z are also co-founders the nonprofit Reform Alliance, which focuses mostly on parole, probation justice, parole, and reform.
