Christopher Maurice Brown, born May 5th, 1989 is an American dancer, singer actor, songwriter, and dancer. According to Billboard Brown is among the most popular R&B artist of his time. Brown is often described as the "King" of R&B by his peers. His musical style can be described as polyhedric, with numerous influences from hip hop and pop music. The lyrics of his are heavily influenced by romantic themes speed life, desire regret, and emotional conflict. Brown's presence on stage has gained him a cult fan following. [8]
Brown was signed to Jive Records in 2004 and released his debut album, self-titled. The Recording Industry Association of America then declared the album triple platinum. The first single he released, "Run It!" was the first single to be certified. Brown's first single "Run It!" reached the Billboard Hot 100 and climbed to the top position. It was his first single since 1995. The album he followed, Exclusive (2006), was a commercial hit. It was the catalyst for the second Billboard Hot 100 number 1 "Kiss Kiss". In 2009, Brown admitted to the charge of felony sexual assault against Rihanna who was his girlfriend at the time. The album was released in Graffiti within the year following. The album was a failure commercially in contrast to his previous albums. The fourth album by Brown, F.A.M.E. was released following Graffiti. Brown's fourth album, F.A.M.E. (2011) was his first album to make it to the top spot on the Billboard 200. The album included the smash singles "Yeh 3x" and "Look at Me Now" as well as "Beautiful People" that earned him the Grammy Award as Best R&B Album. His 2017 double-disc album Heartbreak on a Full Moon (45 tracks) was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album had total album-equivalent sales and number of more than 500,000 within one week. Then, the Recording Industry Association of America has certified the album as Double Platinum. In the year 2019, Brown's ninth studio album Indigo was released on top of the Billboard 200. The album included Drake's "No Guidance", which was a top five hit on the Billboard Hot 100. It also set a record for the longest-running top spot on the Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts. "Go Crazy," that was released with Young Thug in the year 2020, was part of their joint mixtape Slime & B (2020). Brown has sold more than 197 million albums around the world which makes him one of the top-selling artists in music. Brown is also the top-grossing African American tour artist of all in history. Brown has the highest number of Billboard Hot 100 entries by any male artist, and also the highest number of hits within the top 40 for all R&B artist. Brown was also ranked third on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop artists of the 2010. Brown has won numerous awards throughout his career including an Grammy Award and 18 BET Awards. Brown also took home four Billboard Music Awards and thirteen Soul Train Music Awards. Brown has also pursued acting as a profession. Brown made his debut as a feature film actor in Stomp the Yard in 2007. Additionally to that, he appeared as a guest on the TV program The O.C. Brown was also seen in Takers (2010) and This Christmas (2007). Brown also appeared on the TV show The O.C. (2012).
