Cate Blanchett

 Catherine Elise Blanchett AC (/'blaentSIt/;[2][3] born 14 May 1969) is an Australian actor and television producer. She is considered to be one of the top actresses her generation. Her versatility in blockbusters and independent films has earned her a name as a superb performer. Blanchett has been recognized with numerous prizes that include three British Academy Film Awards, two Academy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. She was also nominated for an Tony Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Tony Awards. Blanchett started her acting career on the Australian stage with parts such as Electra (1992) as well as Hamlet (1994). International attention was paid to her character as Elizabeth I in Elizabeth (1998). She won the Golden Globe Award and BAFTA Award For Best Actress and was nominated for an Academy Award. The role she played as Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator (2004) won her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the following year, she was awarded the Academy Award as Best Actress for her performance as an ex-socialite with a neurotic personality in Woody Allen's comedy drama Blue Jasmine (2013). Blanchett's other Oscar-nominated roles include Notes on a Scandal (2006) I'm Not There (2007), Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) as well as Carol (2015). She is the most-nominated Australian at the Academy Awards with seven nominations. Blanchett has appeared in more than 20 productions in the theatre. Between 2008 and 2013, she and her husband Andrew Upton, were the artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company. During that time, she was involved in numerous revivals of A Streetcar Named Desire and Uncle Vanya. She also received nominations and theatre awards for her performance in Gross und klein and The Maids. In 2017 she made her Broadway debut with The Present. She was nominated for the Tony Award as Best Actress in a Play. Blanchett was also awarded Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in the form of a Limited Series or Movie and Outstanding Limited Series as a producer for the FX/Hulu historical drama miniseries Mrs. America (2020).
