Amanda Lee Peers sat on an armchair with a collection of balloons filled with helium attached to the backrest in her north Greece kitchen. The sunlight streaming through the windows poured a vase of sunflowers. On the table were the party favors, a few crumbs from an upcoming birthday celebration. She came to share a part of her life she isn't keen on discussing. It was a dark period in her life, which she flies against the positive atmosphere that was the space. The album, which consists of six tracks "Sinner" was released in the last quarter of 2013. "This album explores the side of my life that I do not talk about a whole lot," she says. "It's the hurt of the darkest times, the struggles I've had . . . But also being conscious of the future." "Sinner," is a sharp contrast to her previous "Summertime State of Mind" EP that was a lively and acoustic-laced EP was dropped two years ago. It had an "kid-friendly sound" as well as a pop rock-oriented track. The new album is not afraid to express her raw emotions. More eclectic, more electric, more punch. Its intensity will leave the listener breathless. It's art that taps into the depths of our souls. It's an art form art that could be surprising to those who recall Peers as the girl-next door who sang pop tunes on the NBC show "The Voice" more than seven years ago.
