Gemma Christina Arterton (born 2 February 1986) is an English actress and producer. After her stage debut in Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost at the Globe Theatre (2007), Arterton made her debut as a feature-film actress in the comedy St. Trinian's (2007). Arterton played the Bond Girl Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace (2008). The performance brought her an Empire Award as Best Newcomer. She was awarded the Harper's Bazaar Woman of the Year Award for her performance in and directing The Escape. Her most memorable performances in theatre have included acting in The Duchess of Malfi (2014), Made in Dagenham (2014) as well as Nell Gwynn (2016) and Saint Joan (2017). Arterton was nominated for Olivier Awards for her work in Nell Gwynn and Made in Dagenham, and she received the Evening Standard Theatre Award for the latter.Since 2016 Arterton has operated her own production firm, Rebel Park Productions, which focuses on creating female-led content in front of as well as behind the lens. Arterton has produced four feature films as well as two short films while serving as the executive producer. Arterton is also a strong supporter of the Time's Up and ERA 50/50 movements. Arterton played an integral role in persuading actors to wear black attire at the 2018 BAFTAs in support of Time'sUp, and has been involved in ERA 50:50,an equal pay campaign in the UK since its beginning.
