Forbes employs more than 50 reporters from different countries each year to track the actions of the most wealthy people in the world[6The Forbes team monitors the activities of the world's richest people[6. In some cases, Forbes also tracks the actions of groups of families and of wealthy individuals who are able to share their wealth. Surveys are sent out to those who may qualify to be on the list. Forbes says they have received three different responses: some individuals tried to boost their wealth, while others cooperated, but did not provide specifics, and others refused to answer questions. Business deals are scrutinized and important assets, such as cars, homes, land as well as art and more are appraised. The estimates are then made. Interviews are done to verify the accuracy of the numbers and to increase the probability of a person's assets. Additionally, shares that are listed on a stock exchange are priced at market price at a time that is roughly one month prior to publication. Privately-held companies are priced according to the most current price-to earnings or price-to sales ratios. To determine the value of an individual in dollars, assets are deducted from debts that are known. Prices for stocks fluctuate rapidly, so the individual's wealth and position may differ from the current situation when the list was created.
