Bashar Barakah Jackson was born July 20, 1999 and died February 19, 2020. He was known by the name of Pop Smoke. Born in Canarsie, Brooklyn, Pop Smoke began his music career in the second half of 2018 with the release of his debut single "MPR (Panic Part 3 Remix)". Pop Smoke became famous with the releases of "Welcome to the Party", as well as "Dior" that were his breakout singles. Pop Smoke often worked with UK drill musicians and producers. They employed less aggressive instruments than Chicago drill artists. This allowed them to revive the sounds of Brooklyn drill. In April of 2019, Rico Beats, a record producer who was a producer for the record industry, presented Pop Smoke as Steven Victor. Victor would later see Pop Smoke sign a recording agreement with Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records. He released his debut mixtape Meet the Woo in July 2019. The second mixtape, Meet the Woo 2, debuted at number 7 on the Billboard 200. It was the rapper's first top-10 album to be released in the United States.
