 London is British, however, London claims to be South Korean. The self-identification of London attracted the attention of across the globe and sparked debate about whether it was possible to be transgender or transracial. Sandra Song of Paper magazine claimed that he was a fan of South Korean culture, calling the actions he took "incredibly offensive, particularly since it trivializes our identity since they're now 'trendy.'" London was threatened with death on the Internet for being transracial however he defended his choice as private and stated that his goal is solely to appreciate the culture. He was also backed by other individuals. Rachel Dolezal, an American activist, was also targeted for her racial identification. She stated that the most important concern for others should not be someone's individual identity (including London).
