Margrethe Schanne

She was appointed solo dancer in 1943, and was then able to dance in the Bournoville's Edouard in the year 1945. This performance was pivotal for Schanne's career to come. She was permitted to "unfold her unique understanding of romantic female figures" according to the entry of Anne Middelboe Christensen in KVINFO. She travelled to Paris in 1946, where she resided between 1946 and 1947, and worked with the Russian educator Olga Preobrajenska. Schanne was an invited guest at the Ballet des Champs-Elysees, Paris 1947. She improved her classical dance style and dramatic style during her time there. Between 1945 and 1966 Schane was the lead actress in the stage play La Sylphide. Beginning from 1951, she danced her second important Romanic role in Giselle. Schane performed Night Shadow by George Balanchine in 1955. She was the central role of Pas de Quatre by Anton Dolin
