A philanthropist is someone who participates in philanthropy by donating their time, funds, or reputation to causes that are charitable. The term may apply to anyone who volunteers or anyone who makes a donation, but the label is usually applied to those who donate significant amounts of money or make a major impact through their work as a volunteer, like the trustee of an organization with philanthropy or who creates and finances an foundation.A philanthropist may not always get universal support for their deeds. The most frequent accusations against philanthropists is that they have a bias towards causes that aren't worthy (e.g. giving money to art, instead of fighting the problem of hunger around the world) and also that they are driven by self-interested motives (e.g. avoiding taxes or seeking fame). Philanthropists are also people who take care of the needs of others instead.
