New York-born Hawaiian siblings Pili and Ioane "E" temporarily relocate from New York to Oahu with their mother Leilani to help her father, Kimo, whose health and financial issues are becoming grave. Pili is a fervent geocaching fan, is relieved by the release of an old diary that was found in her grandfather’s art studio. While she is at it, E is distracted from his own search for the best Internet signal by the requisite pretty local girl, Hana who has grand hopes of her own. While Pili is in a Goonies-style hunt for treasures of pirates The siblings discover their Hawaiian roots. Pili is assisted by Casper who is a local boy who is resourceful and nerdy, as well as E as well as Hana.
