Curtis James Jackson III[ (born July 6th, 1975),known professionally as 50 Cent, is a popular American rapper, actor, and businessman. Born in the South Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, Jackson began pursuing a professional career in music in 2000, when he released Power of the Dollar for Columbia Records; however, several days before the scheduled release, he was gunned down and the album not released. After 50 Cent's mixtape Guess who's back came out in 2002? He was discovered by Eminem and was signed to Shady Records, under the direction of Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records.His debut album on a major label, Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003), was a huge commercial hit. The album was the source of the Billboard Hot 100 number one singles "In da Club" and "21 Questions", and was certified 9x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He also established G-Unit Records that year, signing his G-Unit friends Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, as well as Tony Yayo. This was before he became the leader of East Coast hip-hop group G-Unit. 50 Cent enjoyed the same kind of critical and commercial success with his second album, The Massacre (2005), which contained the single "Candy Shop". He underwent musical changes by his fifth album, Animal Ambition (2014) and is currently making the sixth album of his studio. He was director and executive producer of Power (2014-2020) and will be producing the spin-off.
